Recently I was able to volunteer with Expressive Pathways, a local nonprofit committed to creating a space for marginalized adolescents to learn dance, music, art, theater, or humanities. Having my own privilege of learning dance from the Institute of Dance in Fort Washington 3 days a week, I wanted to help others discover the beauty of dance and the feeling of self accomplishment when learning a dance from the beginning to the end. I created my own dance routine that was vetted through the Expressive Pathways leadership team and then came in person to teach a group of boys and girls the routine on a Friday evening. We started off with some ice breakers and then I broke down each step until we had a full dance routine.

This year, I chose to donate to https://www.evoluerhouse.org/ because their mission is to help develop confident, productive, goal-achieving women through personal development programs and Youth Workforce Programs. They aim to serve Philadelphia's inner-city girls between the ages of 13 and 18 and they recently celebrated the graduation of the 1,300th girl from life-changing programs. All of their graduates finished high school on time and 90% have gone on to attend a four-year college. Many have even gone on to earn advanced degrees.
My Girls Rising Club that I'm a founder of at my school is organizing a book and school supply drive to donate to local low-income schools
This past week volunteering with inKind Baking Project, we were able to bring my homemade Chocolate Chip cookies to University City Hospitality Coalition. I really enjoy doing this type of volunteering because I am able to share one of my passions with people who want it and it's really cool to get connected with these city nonprofits that do so much direct work with people who need it the most.
