Hello

Meet The Dancing Baker PA,

Hi! My name is Mallory and I'm a high school student in Montgomery County who combined my love of baking and dancing to launch The Dancing Baker PA, a passion project rooted in joy, creativity, and community impact. Inspired by my dad's food allergies, I began baking nutritious, allergy-friendly treats at age 13 for friends and neighbors. I would deliver each treat with a dose of fun—teaching kids a new dance move along the way—which earned my nickname,The Dancing Baker. What started as small doorstep deliveries quickly grew into something bigger: a mission to increase access to healthy food while uplifting others through movement and connection. I currently study at Institute Dance Artistry and volunteer with Expressive Path, a nonprofit providing arts education to underserved youth in areas like dance, theater, and visual arts. Through it all, I continue to weave together baking and dancing as powerful tools for nourishment, empowerment, and change.

I decided to integrate my skills and passions into addressing local challenges within my community such as food insecurity.

For instance food Insecurity in Our State & Community:

  • In Pennsylvania, over 1.1 million people are food insecure.

  • In Montgomery County, over 58,000 individuals are food insecure.

  • Poverty limits food options for many. In Montgomery County, 5.6% of people live below the poverty level;  approximately 4,100 individuals live in poverty in the North Penn region.

As I volunteered at local soup kitchens, I realized just how many people don’t have access to fresh, healthy food—especially those without kitchens or storage space. That experience pushed me to create a series of community-centered food access programs under The Dancing Baker PA: Munch with Mal, Cool with Mal, Recipes with Mal, and Porch 2 Pantries.

With Munch with Mal, I collect healthy, individually packaged snacks through neighborhood Porch 2 Pantries pickups, check each item for quality, and deliver curated snack baskets directly to local food pantries and nonprofits. Cool with Mal brings nutritious, ready-to-eat meals from Trader Joe's and drinks like Gatorade to a community fridge I stock regularly—making food available to those who don’t have kitchen access.

Recipes with Mal focuses on creating simple, healthy recipes using common pantry items like garbanzo beans or bananas, showing families how to turn donations into delicious snacks and meals. And with Porch 2 Pantries, I drop off reusable bags and a list of needed snacks to homes across the region, returning a week later to collect donations and redistribute them to community fridges and pantries.

I manage the logistics of each initiative myself—from coordinating porch pickups and fridge restocks to recipe testing and food quality checks—because I believe food equity starts with action. Through The Dancing Baker PA, my goal is to help close the gap in access to healthy snacks by not only distributing nutritious, ready-to-eat options, but also by creating simple, homemade recipes that show people how to turn commonly donated items—like bananas or canned beans—into delicious, healthy foods. Whether it’s muffins made from overripe bananas or hummus from garbanzo beans, I aim to bring education, nourishment, and a little joy to every bite.

Values

01.

Inclusion

Any type of dessert, any type of dance, but not every type of 'climate solution'.

02.

Education

Educating others on desserts, dancing, and food systems sustainability.

03.

Advocacy

Advocating on the best baked treat, the most unique dance, and all of the public health food issues.

04.

Doing the extra "step"

Delivering baked treats with a "fun fact about food insecurity", educating on why to use a different ingredient for the individual's health dietary needs, volunteering at local nonprofits, but always doing the extra step to help further our mission.
